On X / Twitter this week, President-elect Donald Trump announced that he will be nominating Kash Patel, whom Trump describes as an “‘America First’ fighter,” to be director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
“Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People,” Trump wrote.
“He played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution.”
During Trump’s first term, Patel served as Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense (DOD), as well as Deputy Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council (NSC).
“Kash has also tried over 60 jury trials,” Trump further gushed. “This FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border.”
“Kash will work under our great Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to bring back Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity to the FBI.”

In a statement following Trump’s announcement, Patel thanked the president-elect and told him it is “the honor of a lifetime” to be nominated to direct the FBI during Trump’s second presidential term.
“Together, we will restore integrity, accountability, and equal justice to our justice system and return the FBI to its rightful mission: protecting the American people,” Patel further said in a thank-you post.
Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) is excited that Trump picked Patel. Waltz says that the FBI headquarters in Washington “needs reform” and that “Kash is the man to drive that agenda!”
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) is similarly excited. On X / Twitter, she congratulated Patel and urged him to get going now because “We got [sic] no time to waste – let’s go!”
“The Deep State is officially on notice!” added Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) to the chorus of praise for Patel.
“It’s a terrible development for the men and women of the FBI and also for the nation that depends on a highly functioning, professional, independent FBI,” joked former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who oversaw the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign the first time around when Trump was accused of colluding with Russia.
“The fact that Andrew McCabe feels Kash Patel as FBI Director would ‘disrupt,’ ‘dismantle,’ & ‘distract’ the FBI speaks volumes that Kash is a good pick,” added Scott Presler, an organizer and founder of Early Vote Action.
“Let me remind you that McCabe signed off on the phony FISA warrant to surveil Trump adviser Carter Page.”
The praise continued in the comment section over at Breitbart where several commenters added things that they feel Trump should do starting on Day One of his presidency.
“Revoke the security clearances for all that are no longer in government,” one said. “All these retired hacks that seek to undermine Trump and this administration need to be kicked to the curb – no clearance, no intel briefings.”
“Then begin a real review of their finances and hold them accountable for insider trading! Then do a proper investigation concerning such insider trading for all that are in or have been in congress over the last 20 years and their aids! How do these people become multi-millionaires on a salary of around $150,000 a year? Time to bring such behavior, both sides of the isle, to an end!”
